Ronald Gene Ward

April 18, 1932 ~ April 1, 2018 (age 85)

Ronald Gene Ward, age 85, died of natural causes on Sunday, April 1, 2018, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Ron was born on April 18, 1932, in Caldwell, Idaho to Perry and Dorothy Ward.  He graduated from Huntington High School in Huntington, Oregon, in 1950.  Ron married Beverly Walker on January 3, 1953, in Rome, New York.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, retiring as a sergeant.    Following his military service, Ron worked for US West for 32 years until his retirement in 1982.  In the early 1970s, Ron was an assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 308 through the Methodist Church in Pocatello, Idaho.  Ron was also a member of the Eagle Rock Lodge of the Masonic Temple in Idaho Falls, Idaho for 34 years.

After retirement, Ron and Bev spent many years in Island Park, Idaho.  Ron was an avid outdoorsman – loving hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.  He was also a backyard birdwatcher.  He taught his sons and grandchildren to appreciate nature and its beauty.  When the winters of Island Park were too cold, Ron and Bev spent many winters in Arizona playing golf and enjoying the sun.   They eventually settled in Twin Falls, Idaho and operated Four Paws Critter Sitters for 13 years.

Ron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly; his three children, Deborah Combs, William Ward (Julia), and Scott Ward (Penny); his grandchildren Jennifer, Ronald, Mathew, Walker, Madison and Mason, nine great-grandchildren, and his four pawed friend, Maggie.

The family would like to thank St. Luke’s Home Health Care and Hospice for the care and kindness they showed Ron during the last few months.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made to the Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Cremation is under the care and direction of Serenity Funeral Chapel Life Celebration Center & Cremation Services of Idaho, Twin Falls. Condolences may be shared at www.serenityfuneralchapel.com
