Penny Stalions passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019, in Logan, Utah.
Penny was born September 28, 1965, in Sacramento, Ca to Lovella D. Gasperson. She grew up in Sacramento with her mother and two siblings, Andy and April. She grew up close to her extended family, camping with cousins during the summer. She also grew up involved in church as her mom was a Sunday school teacher.
In 1984 Penny graduated from Rio Linda High School, the same year she had her son, Matthew. In the spring of 1985, they lost her older brother Andy in a car accident, six months later she had her second child, her daughter, Vanessa. Penny and her children would remain in California for the next ten years. On July 5, 1995, she married Tony Stalions in Reno, NV. The family relocated to Twin Falls, Id, and after a year they moved just a few miles away to Kimberly. With a job offer for Tony, the family moved to southern Utah, but that didn't last long. They missed the small-town life and moved back just 8 months later. After returning to Idaho Penny worked as a cook at a nursing home, she enjoyed working with the elderly. After Tony took a job as a long haul truck driver, she stayed at home with her children. Her children were teenagers by this time, which allowed her and Tony to travel some. She loved the beach, they traveled to Jamaica, the Grande Caymans, and different spots in Mexico. She also traveled with him during the summer months.
In the fall of 2002, they welcomed their first granddaughter, the first of nine grandchildren. In the summer of 2004 Penny lost her firstborn, Matthew, in a car accident. This is something that she would never fully recover from. She remained in Idaho until 2012, a year after her divorce from Tony. She returned to California for five years, and in the summer of 2017 she came back to Idaho to be closer to her grandchildren. Shortly after coming home her health started to decline, she was in and out of the hospital the last year of her life. Late July of this year she was life-flighted to Logan, Utah where she stayed until she passed away.
Her older granddaughter will remember dancing in the kitchen with her. Her niece will remember how she was always there for them as children. The family will remember that she would help any way she could. Friends and family alike will remember the amazing macaroni salad she made, along with the fudge she would make every Christmas. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa (Ryan) Brandell of Twin Falls; her mother, Lovella; sister, April (Larry) Oren of Sacramento, Ca, her six granddaughters, Dezeray and Haylee Stalions, Carmen Davis, Rylee, Annalyce, and Allison Brandell, as well as her three grandsons, Adrian and Micheal Brandell and Reese Bennett all of Twin Falls. Her ex-husband, Tony Stalions of Twin Falls, and many extended family members in California and Washington.
We rest easy knowing she is not alone . She is in the arms of family members gone before her, her grandma, Ester Gasperson; aunt, Ramona Rath; older brother, Andy Fowler, and her son, Matthew Stalions.
