Wanda “Dorlene” Packard, 91, of Twin Falls, died, Monday, May 20, 2019, at Bridgeview Estates, Twin Falls.
Dorlene was born on August 27, 1927 at Ava, Missouri to Milo Pearson and Esta “Mabel” Hartley Pearson. Milo passed in 1928 and they moved to Twin Falls shortly thereafter. Her mother remarried, and James Busby became her father. She had two older brothers, Milo Pearson II and Lyle Pearson, and a younger sister, Esta Fay Miracle.
The family had a cabin outside of Sun Valley and frequently went to Mackey Bar where she loved to dance. She was always a go-getter, had numerous friends and was the life of the party. They frequented the cabin before and during the war. She graduated from Twin Falls High School, married Robert “Bob” W. Packard on March 16, 1951, and they spent their lives together in Twin Falls. They had four sons, Jim, Mark, Kevin, and Bob. Dorlene was the office managers at her husband’s dental practice her entire career until retiring in 1986.
Dorlene was a very active, distinguished, and awarded athlete. She and Robert enjoyed golfing and fishing and she won city and state tournaments in both golf and bowling. She was a very loving and caring mom, always there when needed, and stayed involved with all of her siblings, nieces, and nephews. It was hard to know where one family stopped and the next one started. When hard times came along, she would always tell say “It will be okay”. This was very important to her youngest son Bob during his major health crisis, and he wants everyone to know.
Dorlene is survived by her sons, Jim, Kevin, and Bob, all of Twin Falls; step-daughters, Judy, Kim, and Cindy; six grandchildren; four nieces, and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings, her son, Mark, and a grandchild.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Bridgeview Estates in Twin Falls, Idaho.
At her request, no services will be held. Her cremated remains will be scattered in the same special location as Robert’s. Cremation is under the direction of Serenity Funeral Chapel Life Celebration Center and Cremation Services of Idaho, Twin Falls. Condolences may be shared at www.serenityfuneralchapel.com.
