David Reed Williams, 87, was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 1, 1932. He passed away peacefully at his home in Filer, Idaho on July 25 with his wife, Sharon, and his service dog, Dasey Mae by his side.
David served in the US Navy from 1950 thru 1954. He was standing next to C. Turner Joy when C. Turner signed the shell that David put into the gun that fired the last shot during the Korean War.
After his military tour, David attended and graduated from Baptist Seminary in California. He served as a Baptist minister for many years. He married Sharon Cossin on March 16, 1962. They celebrated their 57th anniversary in March. David and Sharon had two children, David R. William, Jr., and Debra Lynn Williams. Together they fostered 54 foster children. Two of the girls are still in contact with them. Glynese Cooper of Texas and Becky Hemby of California.
David was a kind, gentle, giving man. He loved Sharon, his Lord, life, and people. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. David was always ready with a word of encouragement from the Bible and also from his vast life experiences.
David, you will be missed by many.
David’s favorite scripture verse:
Romans 10:9-10 King James Version
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
